I just got back from the orthodontist with my son. It's kind of nice not being the one in the chair. Many of the sounds in the office take me right back 20 years. Watching pictures being taken of stretched-out mouths and seeing molds being taken for retainers and such is interesting when I'm not the one having to do it. My son gets to start wearing elastics today. I sure remember the fun of those elastics. I'm glad the next generation gets to experience this joy called orthodontics!
Yay!!! She posted!!! I enjoy the updates of your family since we don't see you weekly like during the summertime. I, too, have fond (NOT!) memories of sitting for seemingly hours at a time in the orthodontics chair. Molds for retainers, braces, bands, pokey wires, wax, sore teeth...oy. Glad I'm not the one too. Rachael gets to visit the orthodontist soon. Small mouth + big teeth = unpleasant times in "The Chair." Yay for genetics.
ReplyDeleteHey, Tara! Josie is wearing braces these day, too. But she LOVES them! She LOVES going to her appointments, too. Yeah for braces and beautiful smiles!
ReplyDeleteI should clarify that my son loves having braces and the resulting straighter teeth. He really doesn't mind going to the orthodontist because he has the final goal in mind. He does have very sore teeth this morning and I noticed that his sandwich he made for school was in bite-sized pieces in the baggie already. He's also having trouble putting those elastics in. I remember doing that as well. We are grateful for the opportunity to have him have braces!
ReplyDeleteWell, dentistry has changed greatly over the years. There are dental care procedures that we couldn't even dream about when we were young. Your son is very lucky that he is now enjoying the fruits of modern dental care.
