Concealed Weapon Permit Class, Half-Marathons and Walking for MS

I finally took a Concealed Weapon Permit Class on Friday with my sister, her husband and my youngest brother.  It was awesome and I learned so much.  My husband got his permit 5 years ago and has been waiting for me to get mine.  It was a great class!

Yesterday my husband ran a half-marathon at Thanksgiving Point.  He ran it last year, too.  His goal for this year was to beat last year's time.  He beat it by nearly 10 minutes.  Way to go!!!

While he was running at Thanksgiving Point, the kids and I went up to SLC to participate in the Walk for MS event.  A friend of ours from Kearns has MS and we joined her team in the walk.  It was a 5K route around SLC.  All the kids did really great, with minimal complaining!

All in all, it was a fun and busy weekend!!!

Hiding No More

I've decided to quit being such a recluse and start interacting with people more.  This means I'm back on Facebook and have started some Pinterest boards.

I'm still going to be careful with names and photos, but it's time to join life again.

The Great Reveal

I finished painting and reinstalling the cabinet doors this afternoon.  This was by far the largest project I've ever done by myself.  And I did do it by myself.  Four weeks from start to finish, with the exception of Spring Break week, was how long this thing took.

Here is a not so great picture of the before of the cabinets.  Just imagine lots of very worn oak.  Look at the cabinets in the back of the wonky tomatoes here.  Everything was that wood.

Here is a picture of our bathroom cabinets.  The kitchen ones were the same:

Here is the after:

I was able to save all but one of the hinges by soaking them in ammonia and water.  The trim all got replaced and new base boards under the cabinets were put on over the old gross ones.  A new vent was put along the baseboard under the sink, since there wasn't one before.  All the handles are new.  The insides of all the cabinets except for the 2 corner lazy susans were painted as well.  That was the worst part, I thought.  I nearly had to climb in some of them to get it all painted.
It's quite a difference and it really makes it brighter in here.  I like it a lot!

Next up, painting the walls, since they now look pretty bad next to the newly painted cabinets!

Overheard

This conversation happened last night:

Daughter #4: Mom, do you know all the 50 states' names?
Mom:  Yes.
Daughter #4:  Me, too.  Do  you want to hear them?
Mom:  Sure.
Daughter #4:  Okay.  Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Egypt....
