I'm taking a break from sewing (I almost typed swearing. That was weird.) aprons and bonnets for Trek. I just have to keep telling myself, "I'm almost done. I'm almost done. I'm almost done."
Pansy, the chicken that I only ever write about, has been laying her eggs in a corner of the yard. Once or twice another chicken has joined her, but it's mostly her. How can one chicken have so many issues and all the rest be quite normal? Noisy, but normal.
Daughter #3 was in her class play last night. "Bubba the Cowboy Prince" was its name. She was Betty Mae, I think, and did very well. I could hear and understand everything she said, which was not the case for most of the kids. Much mumbling was occurring. This conversation happened after the play was over:
Daughter #3: "That was so fun!"
Me: "I'm glad you liked it. See, it wasn't scary at all!"
Daughter #3: "It was only scary when Dad was staring at me."
I told that to my husband and he hopes he doesn't have that effect on other people as well.
I've been weeding about an average of an hour a day and am still behind on the weeds. The supposed-to-be-there plants are doing great, though, as well as the trees and bushes. We'll see what this year's harvest brings.
I discovered a cute store over by our library. It's called Auntie Bling Bling's. It has all kind of vintage clothes, shoes, accessories, home stuff, books, kitchen items, etc. I asked the lady who owns the place how she decides what to buy for her store and basically it is whatever she likes. She has consigners find stuff for her. I may look into that. I ended up buying a brass owl and a California Ivy plate that is in the pattern my grandma used to have. Very cool place.
We made our bucket seats for Trek on Tuesday's activity for mutual. Mine is in a very bright flower fabric that was a scrap from Daughter #4's apron. Another leader said that if she gets feeling down on Trek, she will just come and sit on my bucket and she will feel better. We also got assigned our Trek families. Since I am not going with my husband, I got paired with Brother F who is coming without his wife. We have 7 youth, 3 girls and 4 boys. It is a good combination. Brother F, or Pa F, is a very funny guy and will balance out all my emotionalness.
