Can't Sleep

I'm having a hard time sleeping this morning.  I bet it's because I have to be up at 7 to go running with the Young Women and the leaders.  Not really looking forward to that, but I'll be so glad I went after I'm done.

Back to school.  That's one of my favorite phrases.  Ever.  We've been spending this week so far getting everything ready for school.  Yesterday I took my son to get his clothes and supplies.  He needed pretty much everything as far as clothes and shoes went.  I tried to go as long as possible during the summer without buying him new pants and shoes because he's growing so fast.  I didn't want to have to shop twice.  Well, it was getting pretty desperate.  He had not a single pair of appropriate long pants left and his toes were hanging out his shoes.  It was definitely time.  He is now properly outfitted.

Then I took all four girls to get their hair cut at Fantastic Sams.  I'm willing to pay for their haircuts so I don't have to mess with their hair.  I'm afraid of messing it up.  I cut my son's hair and my husband cuts his own with my help, but the girls' hair is just too thick.  All the girls look much better and I bet we won't be having hour-long combing sessions anymore.  I hope.

After that, Daughter #1 and I went to get her clothes and to get her ears pierced.  She looks so cute with her earrings.  She has been sensitive to metal in the past, so we'll cross our fingers with this and hope she doesn't react.  She got some cute animal earrings as well.

I still have to go through the youngest three girls' clothes to see what needs to be bought.  I know we'll be getting long pants and shoes for all of them.  That situation is pretty bad.

We have Back-to-School nights on Thursday and Friday this week.  Those are very helpful and the kids look forward to seeing who is in their classes.  Daughter #1 will learn how to open her locker and how to navigate the maze that is the junior high school.  My son said it's not too bad, so we'll see how she does.

Also this week we have a car wash with the YM and YW tonight, a YW presidency meeting for me on Wednesday morning, a late night for the YW on Thursday, and camping for my son on Friday and Saturday.  It's good to be busy.

  1. How fun to have Dughter #1 with pierced ears! I remember when I got mine done, I threw up over the entire mall...no kidding. Sounds like it went better for her though!

  2. Yay Megan!!! I hope it works out for you. I found out later that I also had an allergy to metal when I was 13 and 14 or so, which is why I couldn't wear earrings, but I hope you have outgrown that.

What a busy week! If you need to skip the playdate this week, I understand but let me know!

What a challenge to get all the kids outfitted for school. I'm glad the two oldest are done. Three to go!
